Empress Valley Farm

Payment:  To receive the prepayment discount, payment for one month of lessons is due at the first lesson of the month.  If payment is not received at the first lesson, the individual rates will be charged.  If a student begins riding at EVF after the first week of the month, they can receive the prepay discount if they pay in advance for the rest of the lessons for the month.  Please make checks payable to Empress Valley Farm.  We also accept payment through PayPal (linked to a bank account) and are happy to send you an invoice with a direct PayPal link.  If you pay with cash, please put the cash in an envelope with your name on it to assure that it is credited towards your account.

Additional Lessons:   If a client wishes to take additional lessons in a month they have prepaid for a block of 4 lessons, the additional lessons will be charged at the discounted rate.  This may happen in a month consisting of 5 lesson days, for example.

Scheduling:  Only clients prepaying for blocks of lessons will be guaranteed a certain time for lessons each week.  Due to the extremely busy lesson program at EVF, please try to stick to your assigned lesson time as much as possible.  Excessive rescheduling (more than 1 per month) of lessons will be subject to a $15 fee.  The rescheduling fee is waived for extreme weather, holidays and horse shows.  Also, if you need to reschedule, please remember it is your responsibility to schedule the makeup lesson and there is no guarantee there will be a time available for the makeup.

Extreme Weather:  If the temperature is over 95 degrees or below 18 degrees, EVF will cancel lessons.  You will receive an email, text or call if lessons are to be cancelled.  It is usually warmer in the barn than outside.  Always assume lessons are on unless you hear from your trainer.

Cancellation Policy:  If you must cancel, please give 24 hours notice.  If you do not give 24 hours notice, you will be required to pay for the lesson.  Lessons must be rescheduled in the CALENDAR month.  Payments will not carry over into the next month and there are no refunds unless the trainer is unable to reschedule your lesson.  In the event the trainer is not available for a make up lesson in the calendar month, one lesson may carry over into the following month with trainer permission.

Illness Cancellation:  If your child wakes up sick on the day of his/her lesson, then you have until 10am on the day of the lesson to cancel in order to be allowed to make up the lesson during the calendar month.  This type of cancellation will be permitted one time per student per month.

Proper Attire:  Paddock boots (no cowboy boots as soles are too slippery) and jeans or breeches.  Half chaps are recommended.  Hair should be neatly pulled back into a ponytail or under the helmet with a hairnet (preferred).  No shorts or sweat pants.  All students must wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet.  If you do not have a helmet, one will be provided for you.

Arrival:  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your lesson to allow ample time to prepare your horse.  On arrival, please check in with your instructor to determine horse assignment.  Do not assume you are riding the same horse as the previous week.  Please wait to discuss all other questions during your lesson time.  If you arrive 15 minutes or more late to the start of your lesson, it will be forfeited to keep the lesson schedule running smoothly.

Paperwork:  All riders must sign a waiver to participate in horse related activities.  We also ask that you fill out a client information form.  We use an online/email-based billing system and your EVF account will be created upon receipt of both forms.  Instructions on how to use our online system can be found here:
